Fire Fatality Statistics

The Center for Campus Fire Safety (CCFS) provides basic information about fire
fatalities that occurred on a university or college campus, or that occurred within the
town where the campus is located.


Legislation
The Center monitors local, state and national legislation relating to campus fire safety. Pending bills and enacted legislation are available through this website. In addition, copies of testimony offered in support of legislation are also available.

Studies and Reports
There are a number of studies and reports that have been prepared relating to campus fire safety. These reports are available, in their entirety, through this website.

Every year college and university students experience a growing number of fire-related emergencies. There are several causes for these fires, however most are due to a general lack of knowledge about fire safety and prevention. Please read and follow the information listed on the US Fire Administration/FEMA Website to help reduce and prevent the loss of life and property in dormitory and university housing fires.

Detection to provide early warning to students of the fire and notify fire departments to respond.

Early suppression through the installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems in student housing.
