As the world’s largest manufacturer of residential fire safety products, Kidde’s mission is to provide solutions that protect people and property from the effects of fire and its related hazards. For more than 90 years, Kidde has delivered superior fire detection and suppression products which include:

  • Smoke alarms
  • Carbon monoxide alarms
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Other fire safety products and accessories

Kidde supports the mission of the Center for Campus Fire Safety and will strive to educate the campus and area fire fighting agencies on the importance of several critical fire prevention and safety messages including:

  • Smoke alarms should be inspected and cleaned regularly and replaced every 10 years.
  • When replacing smoke alarms, consider a 10-year, sealed battery alarm which eliminates the need to replace the battery.
  • Working smoke alarms should be placed on every floor of a residence,  and should be placed in all sleeping and living areas and hallways.
  • Carbon monoxide alarms can help keep students, staff and others safe from the “Silent Killer,” which is invisible and odorless.
  • Carbon monoxide can quickly seep through a residence when a fuel-burning appliance, such as a furnace or water heater, malfunctions or is improperly used.  CO poisonings injure more than 20,000 people each year.
  • Carbon monoxide alarms should be replaced every five to seven years.
