LEGISLATION UPDATE ... Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know Act on it's way to the President for signature.

August 2008 ... Congress approved the Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know Act, and the Higher Education Act by an overwhelming majority.

The Campus Fire Safety Right-to-Know Act, introduced by Congressman Pascrell (NJ-8) and Senator Lautenberg (NJ), will require colleges and universities to report fire safety information annually to the U.S. Secretary of Education and to make this information available to the public. The report utilizes the same procedure that requires schools to disclose crime statistics and other safety information.
