FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER

The general responsibilities include the prevention of human injury and fire losses, by ensuring compliance with applicable codes, laws, rules, and regulations associated with fire and life safety systems at Ohio University.  This position requires a thorough understanding of fire and life safety rules, regulations, standards, plans, specifications, fire engineering principles, electrical and water flow principles, sprinkler systems, system and device testing, life safety inspections, and educational methods as they relate to the fire safety, fire engineering and fire protection systems.  Additional duties as assigned may also be required.

 

Excellent verbal communication, written communication, project management, computer, and presentation skills are a very important part of this position.  The position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in fire safety engineering, fire science, or a related degree with significant fire experience.  A minimum 3 years practical experience working in the fire protection field is required.  An advanced degree, PE, or state fire related certifications are a plus.  We seek a candidate with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
