This position, reporting to the Assistant Director for Academic Safety and Environmental Health Services, develops and implements comprehensive industrial hygiene and laboratory safety programs on the campus and at experimental stations, including setting standards, conducting assessments and monitoring regulatory compliance. Provide consultative and chemical hygiene services to other campuses, agencies and municipalities as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Physical Sciences or related discipline with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of applied professional industrial hygiene experience or Masters degree with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of progressively responsible experience.  Successful completion of American Board of Industrial Hygiene Core Exam required.  Professional credentialing such as Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist [CAIH] or Certified Industrial Hygienist [CIH] preferred.  Thorough knowledge of industrial hygiene practices and occupational health regulatory requirements associated with a research university environment.  Valid Driver's License required.  Ability to pass a background and security check. Must have supervisory experience.  Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in confined hazardous environments.  Night and weekend hours required

 

Hiring Salary Range:  $51,500-$64,300; (Normal Starting Salary Range: $51,500-$57,900)
