Life Safety Systems Coordinator

The Department of Environmental Health & Safety at the State University of New York at Oswego is accepting applications for the position of Life Safety Systems Coordinator.

Responsibilities:
* Development and implementation of all fire and life safety programs in accordance with NYS Fire & Building Code, NFPA standards and OSHA safety and health regulations throughout the Institution
* Act as Code Coordinator as per Title 19 NYCRR Part 1204
* Follow up on complaints related to fire safety & life safety and make appropriate recommendations and advise departments of same
* Conduct training in personal safety, fire safety, evacuation, extinguishment, and campus fire procedure
* Conduct building inspections for compliance with life safety and fire codes
* Investigate and respond to chemical spills, noxious odors, fire alarms and drills, alarm tests and maintain records thereof
* Facilitate and supervise maintenance of fire protection systems & equipment
* Coordinate annual inspections from Office of Fire Prevention & Control, Dorm Authority and insurance companies
* Facilitate corrective actions and prepare reports
* Issue Burning and Breach permits Qualifications:
* Associate's degree and 3 years full-time fire safety experience; or Bachelor's plus 1 year full-time fire safety experience
* Candidate must have NYS Codes Enforcement Certificate, or be eligible to attain certification within the first year of employment
* Preferred candidate will have knowledge, training and experience in NFPA Codes and Standards, fire alarm and fire protection systems, fire service administration, code enforcement, and emergency response
* Excellent communication and computer skills required
* Candidate must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job
* Position may require occasional evening and weekend emergency response
