An electrical fire that started in the engine compartment was to blame for a car fire on Tuesday at Northern State University, a fire official said. Aberdeen Fire and Rescue responded to the fire about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in the Barnett Center parking lot, said Todd Salfrank, battalion chief.

A fire in a University of Tennessee lab Thursday morning forced a brief evacuation. Officials say magnesium was involved in the fire in Dougherty Hall. A staff member put it out with a fire extinguisher.
