The Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) is the nations foremost industry advocate organization
dedicated to improving the quality, reliability and value of Fire and Life-Safety Systems.

Founded in 1953, it is the only national trade association dedicated to serving the smoke detection
and fire alarm industry. AFAA is a non-profit association dedicated to fostering and improving
relationships, both within the fire alarm industry and among associated industries, including electrical,
security, and emergency notification, etc., among manufacturers, distributors, users, authorities having
jurisdiction, and others through education, research, and development of codes and standards.

AFAA’s mission as an industry advocate is to improve the quality, reliability and value of Fire and Life-
